Lordaeron Footman Shield by Carancerth Lordaeron Footman Shield by Carancerth
This is the new version of the Shields I made for Lordaeron

The color shem is far better than the  first version
Wich was more based on Warcraft 3 shem for human shield, but, after seeing the result, after more researches, this is a better choice, as it's also closer to the flags and the tabards ;)
The colors have more contrast with a daker blue, and in reality it's important to goes "darker" for realistic stuff, and avoid cartoony look.

Also the leather border in brown is an interesting for once again, a more realistic look, and nailed it could be a good idea and refer to the designs in the game.
The inner part is padded, and the buckles have all the same design in different sizes, for a link beetween each parts.
It help to size it at the best size for the use of the shield.
There is also a long strap, wich is use for balance the shield during the use and make the shield more ergonomic.

The only thing I really regret here is that I'm still using gavanized nails and eyelets...
I have to stop. I won't make any other shields that way.
Waht will replace this will be decent rivets and a steel square, for be more realistic, and have a better look!

This is just simply amazing I love the details on the shield such as shape, design, and the coloring. I love how you pay attention to the colors and you said that the key to making sure it is realistic is the darker the color which I agree on. Another smart detail is the strap on the shield to truly bring out another factor to consider. In fact it brings out the reality of it when a person is holding a shield like this they are likely going to keep their arm diagonally. The symbol is also spot on. You did a great job replicating the crest. I give it a 9 out of 10 for the great effort you put into it.

Well this is amazing! I've some people do things like these, but this is a perfect reproduction! Very esthetic and visually pleasing, I like the wood colors, the details and the precision of this work! Keep up the good work, this is fantastic! :)

It looks really nice.  Well done and all ^^

As a reenacter, I have a tip and a question.  The tip is, to make historically good looking rivets, just use thick iron nails and cut 'em to size before hammering them down.  The question is, I'm not sure how one grabs that shield, though I have no idea the final purpose of this one in particular.  If you're interested, you can see my heather shield, has an historically accurate strap system and can be used as a base for designing fantasy stuff.

I love it. It's cool to see something from a game becoming so real it could probably be used in battle. Just one question: did you paint the symbol because it's supposed to be painted (medieval shields were)? Cause it would probably look better if you cutted it into something (leather, or thin metal) and then attached it IMHO :)
